Eaton's non-explosive actuator solutions include G & H Technology miniature tension relief devices. These compact release mechanisms can provide a rated load of 250 pounds (1.1 kilonewtons) while occupying less than 1/3 cubic inches (5 cubic centimeters) of space.
Actuator body less than 1/3 cubic inch (5 cubic centimeters)
The miniature tension release device uses a split starter as the compression preload component, and the load shaft as the compression release actuator. After the electrical start, the deployment of the load is realized through the internal release of the load connection shaft.
The standard rated load of the miniature tension release is up to 250 pounds (1.1 kN), and the separation stroke is 0.25 inches (6.3mm). In addition, customer-defined load ratings and separation stroke lengths are available.
Flight qualification includes night vision system separation
Eaton's miniature tension relief device has been certified and can be used in various critical applications, such as separating night vision goggles from the pilot's helmet before emergency ejection. The technology used in these ultra-compact devices can be used to quickly develop customized compression and release mechanisms for a variety of applications:
Single and redundant start-up.
Customer-defined load ratings and response times.
Form, fit and functional alternatives for pyrotechnic actuators.
Integrated connector and cable assembly.
